What is the easiest way to find the Tavernkeep in Terraria? ›

The Tavernkeep is a unique NPC vendor that accepts only Defender Medals as currency for most items, instead of coins. He will only become accessible after the player has defeated the Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu. Once this criteria is met, he will appear as an Unconscious Man spawning in any layer of the world.

NPCs will not sell pylons if there is no available space in their shop. One example is the Tavernkeep after Golem is defeated, he will stop selling pylons due to his shop inventory being entirely filled with unique offerings.

The Tavernkeep is an NPC that will show up in any layer of the world after the player has defeated the Eater of Worlds or the Brain of Cthulhu. He will appear as an unconscious man, and initiating a conversation with him will wake him. He can then move into any available valid housing.

The Tavernkeep can spawn anywhere in the world. Use either the Cosmic Car Key or Drill Containment Unit if you can. You will want the Lifeform Analyser. Keep moving from left to right on the surface and eventually the Lifeform Analyser will display the Tavernkeep.

Pylons can be obtained by purchasing from NPCs if they are happy enough and in their specific biome.

The Zoologist's item is the Universal Pylon (the Bestiary must be completed for her to sell the item, which requires defeating the Moon Lord).

Beds are furniture items which allow the player to set a new spawn point, or to sleep, which makes time pass 5 times faster, and gives a boost to health regeneration, similar to chairs and sofas. Beds fulfill the chair requirement for the purposes of housing.

The Destroyer

It is considered the easiest Hardmode boss by many players, despite having the second-highest health. The Destroyer is summoned by crafting and using a Mechanical Worm anywhere, but can only be spawned at night.

The Tavernkeep loves the demolitionist, and likes the princess and the goblin tinkerer. His preferred biome is the hallow so it may be difficult to keep him happy until you reach hardmode. He dislikes snow biomes and the guide, and he hates living near the dye trader.

Once players have fourteen NPCs (eight on the mobile and console versions) in their Terraria town, there is then a 2.5% chance that the Party Girl will spawn every morning and evening. Players should note that the Old Man, Traveling Merchant, and Skeleton Merchant NPCs don't count toward this goal.

Can you house the Traveling Merchant in Terraria? ›

He does not require his own house/ja in order to spawn, and will instead spawn next to NPCs, including town pets, spending the day walking around them. Once the criteria are met, the Traveling Merchant has a 22.12% chance of spawning each day, appearing at a random time between 4:30 AM and 12:00 PM.

The Old One's Army event brings associated equipment. The armor and sentry weapons are available from the Tavernkeep in exchange for Defender Medals, while other weapons and accessories are dropped by event enemies.

He becomes available after the Wall of Flesh has been defeated and can be found in the cavern layer or below. Initially, he appears as the stationary Bound Wizard, and interacting with him will free him. Once freed, he will respawn as long as there is a vacant house.
